Why Physio?

Albert’s journey into physiotherapy stems from a deep curiosity about the body’s mechanics, which he developed through his passion for fitness. Fascinated by how muscles work together to allow for movement, Albert’s interest grew into a desire to help people move better, live pain-free, and address the root causes of discomfort and dysfunction. His passion for understanding the body led him to physiotherapy, where he combines his love for movement with his drive to improve others’ lives.

Yan Chen

Physiotherapy

Why Physio?

I’ve always been fascinated by the human body—how muscles, bones, and movement work together to create strength and resilience. What drives me most as a physiotherapist is the opportunity to help people feel better, whether it’s relieving pain, restoring function, or empowering them to move with confidence. Seeing my patients progress and reclaim their quality of life is the most rewarding part of my work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Health Science (Major in Nutrition) – University of Queensland
  • Master of Physiotherapy – University of Sydney
  • Trained in ConnectTherapy® and the Thoracic Ring Approach™
  • Dry Needling Practitioner
  • Trained in NAGS and SNAGS (Manual Therapy Techniques)

With years of experience across private clinics, rehabilitation hospitals, and community settings, I’ve worked with diverse patients to address acute injuries, chronic conditions, and everything in between.

Focus / Passion

I specialize in musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain conditions, including neck/shoulder pain, low back pain, scoliosis, and posture-related issues. My approach blends evidence-based techniques with personalized care, ensuring each patient receives a tailored plan to achieve lasting relief and optimal movement.

Physiotherapy

Why I became a physio

I have always loved sports and being active. When I was 10 years old I sprained my ankle.  Leaving my very first physio session as a patient. I knew this is what I want to be. Looking back on it now I realise subconsciously I always was built to be a healer. So I guess physio chose me.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of exercise and sport science
  • Bachelor of physiotherapy
  • Physiotherapist for Dunbar Rovers FC
  • Physiotherapist for Cranbrook First 15
  • Owned and run a successful physiotherapist practice in Bondi for 10 years
  • Over 15 years experience is private practice

Focus / Passion

Gym and sporting injuries, specifically shoulder and knee injuries. I have had a lot of experience in these areas and hence I focus a lot of my time and resources in this area.

My passion is helping people, I am borderline obsessive when it comes to selecting the right treatment. Physio is an applied science (meaning it is not an exact science) so no two injuries should be treated the same way. Subtle differences and attention to detail is what separates a great physio from an ordinary one.

I hope to see you in my treatment room.

The process of rehabbing his own injury left a lasting impression. That experience laid the foundation for a career dedicated to helping people move better, feel stronger, and return to doing what they love.
